GPS Monitoring System/Monitoring
A GPS monitoring system for supervision agencies.
Probation departments and courts use this platform to monitor participants who wear a GPS watch with alcohol sensing or take sobriety tests from a phone. Officers see locations, zones and compliance events in real time and pull reports for court.

GPS drops out indoors. The officer still needs to know where the device is.
Location data is never perfect: GPS drops out indoors, devices lose signal and batteries run low. Officers still need to know where a device is, how reliable that position is, and which events need attention now.
The original web portal was built on an older stack and was hard to extend. It had to be replaced screen by screen without changing the backend that agencies and devices depend on every minute.
What we built.
- 01Every location, with its sourcePositions come from GPS, cell towers or a home beacon, and the portal shows which source and how accurate it is. Geofence zones and reusable zone libraries trigger alerts; pursuit mode raises the reporting rate when a zone is broken.
- 02Compliance events and alertsZone violations, alcohol readings, tamper, missed tests and battery or connection notices become compliance events that notify officers by email, SMS, push and automated voice call.
- 03A new portal, verified screen by screenThe agency portal was rebuilt in React 19 module by module with the backend left untouched, checked by automated parity tests and an endpoint contract checker, with a live WebSocket feed.
- 04An assistant officers can trustA conversational assistant answers caseload questions and performs confirmed actions. It works without a language model: answers are computed from the same data the screens use, scoped to the officer's permissions.
What our team does
We rebuilt the agency web portal, built the officer assistant and home beacon support, ship watch firmware updates over the air, operate the OpenShift cluster on AWS, and are moving the backend to Spring Boot.
Now · New portal live in 2026. Backend moving to Java 21 and Spring Boot.

Questions we get about it.
How does GPS monitoring work when GPS isn't available?
The system falls back to cell tower location or a home beacon and shows officers which source each position came from and how accurate it is.
What alerts does a supervision monitoring system send?
Zone violations, alcohol readings, device tamper, missed sobriety tests and battery or connection problems, sent to officers and alert groups by email, SMS, push notification and automated voice call.
Can you modernise an old web portal without rewriting the backend?
Yes. On this project we rebuilt every screen of the portal in a modern stack against the existing backend, with automated parity checks so behaviour stayed the same.
Do you build IoT and device connected platforms?
Yes: device ingestion, real time dashboards, alerts, reports and over the air firmware updates. Tell us about your devices and users.
Have a platform like this in mind?
We’ll come back within one business day with how it could work, who would build it and what it would take.
